CASC

Since 1960, each Newton Public School PTO has had a Creative Arts & Sciences Committee that sponsors visiting programs to enhance K-8 education. Presenters typically include award-winning authors, accomplished musicians, artists, and poets, and the Museum of Science Boston and the Discovery Museums of Acton. Programs can be an adjunct to art, English, library, mathematics, music, physical education, science, or social studies curricula.

Underwood’s Creative Arts & Sciences Committee brings approximately 20 different programs to the school each year. These programs, funded solely by the PTO, are made possible through PTO fundraising events such as the Mystery Dinner, the Spring Social, and the Underwood Spring Carnival.

Parent Volunteers: New members are very welcome and appreciated. Volunteers act as the coordinator between the visiting program and the class. If you are interested in becoming involved with Underwood’s Creative Arts & Sciences Committee to help bring enrichment programs to our students, please contact our co-chairs, Jillian Feinberg or Laura Goldworm
