Parent/Caregiver Cocktail Party at Social!—Saturday 10/3
Join the Underwood PTO and fellow Underwood parents and caregivers for this casual event! We’ll meet at Social Restaurant & Bar (320 Washington St, Newton, MA 02458) at 7pm on Saturday, October 3th for appetizers, drinks, and a chance to get to know more of the Underwood Community. Curriculum Night—September 9/17, 6:15pm
This event is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about your child’s curriculum and activities during the school day. Classroom teachers will offer a presentation at select times with grade levels staggered so families with more than one child can attend presentations in each of their children’s classrooms. The schedule will be released as we get closer to Curriculum Night. *Please note that the evening is adults only and childcare will not be available (i.e students should not attend).
Back-To-School Picnic—Thursday 9/10, 5-7PM
Welcome Back, Underwood! The UWD Annual Back-to-School Picnic is Thursday, September 10th, from 5–7PM at Underwood!The Bubble Barge will be back with music and plenty of fun! The Underwood PTO will be providing slices of C&N cheese pizza for all families. You’re welcome to bring your own dinner options, but please RSVP HERE if you’d like pizza. 2026–2027 School Supply Lists
The first day of school is September 2, 2026! To streamline the back to school process, and support our equity values, the PTO will be supplying the majority of school supplies requested by teachers. Each grade-specific list is below. Items indicated by the Underwood Owl will be provided directly to each classroom by the PTO. All other items are to be supplied by individual families (if providing any of these items is a hardship, please email us (underwoodpto@gmail.com), and the PTO can determine what assistance we can provide!). The PTO is providing these supplies at no cost to families. If you have any questions, please let us know!

5th Grade Moving On Ceremony
We just wanted to send along an official email about the “Moving On” Graduation Ceremony for 5th Graders. We will send another email closer to the date with more detailed information. Here is the important information: When: Wednesday, June 24th, 2026 Time: 11:00am Families are invited to arrive no earlier than 10:45 to find seats! Where: Underwood Gym Who: 5th Grade Families What to wear: Students can wear whatever clothing they would like! Many students decide to dress up, wearing dresses, skirts, pants, button up shirts, but it is your choice. There will be time in the day for students to change if they would like to. They are also able to come to school in their outfit if they prefer! During the ceremony, Dr. Talukdar will share a message with students, they will receive their diplomas, sing their Moving on Ceremony song, present a class gift, and view the 5th grade video together. The 5th Grade Fundraising Committee is so excited to share an exciting new event – a Cornhole Tournament! Please note this is an adults-only fundraiser. 1. Sign up as a team with a partner! Please indicate both adult team members AND your team name below. A team registration is a $125 donation and covers tournament swag, food, drinks, and the chance to win a really sweet trophy. 2.
